My Lion
Sprawled out.Open mouthed
Tongue askew.Eyes tight shut
Slightest hint of alcohol
Huge mound that is now his gut
This graphic picture of my love
Once so lithe and athletic
Turned into this colossus
Lying there sad and pathetic
Still i worship his every word
My mighty Lion ,his fearsome roar
but after so many years i recognise
it's now an annoying snore!

love the summer's warmth or a spell of ice?
love nurtures in every climate
Opulent and endearing
of a satin gown or bejewelled earring
overwhelming in all our lives
Volatile or of ones own volition?
vicious in its demolition
vexating and often violent
Emotion ; mans defining trait?
excuse to praise or berate
essential to all kinds of love
