They say love's a reaction that starts in your brain,
It takes over your life and it drives you insane.
It's ecstatic,dramatic,erratic and mad,
It's obsessive,possessive,depressive and sad.
It attacks lonely people and takes hold of their hearts,
And when they're not looking it takes leave and departs.
Without any warning you're left in the cold,
Without your dear lover to have and behold.
Love's not romantic or Hollywood style,
It's destructive and hurtful and really quite vile.
It inspires,it tires,it drains and elates,
It's loving and giving,it's spiteful,it hates.
It happened to me,for a bit it was fine,
In my memory,I believe,at times quite divine.
But don't let this fool you or make you at ease,
Love is a charmer,a flirt and a tease.
And when you are ready and open to charm,
It worms its way in to do you great harm.
I'm not a cynic;it's bitten me twice,
And I'm not that shy,I'd say it's a vice.
So I'll leave you a message,a warning for life,
Embrace it,respect it,it can cut like a knife.
