Once You Have Loved
Once you have loved, and given and received,
And danced to time, and given thanks for life,
Then you have been beyond all care and grief,
Discovered peace beneath the surface strife;
Once life seemed shallow, vague and disconnected,
Once there blew winds of chance, diffuse and random,
Now there is promise, purpose and belonging,
Sorrow and joy engaging life in tandem.
For now things are sufficient to the day,
No more to bicker on the boards of fashion,
Enough of all good things is good enough;
The ages of reason supercedes spent passion;
Lamb and the lion lay down, eagle and dove
Fly in the same blue sky, once you have loved.
