Richard Furlong trained in Fine Art and Stained Glass Design at Chelsea School of Art London, England and later at Swansea School of Art, Wales. Although his work now focuses on the finer qualities of canvas and paper, it isn't hard to see the influence that stained glass design has had on his current paintings. Now a pure abstract painter his work repetitively uses simple form, colour and light to explore complex notions of order and chaos. His tranquil washes of transparent muted colours provide us with a sense of stillness and serenity. Richard Furlong spent many years working in Higher Education until returning to his art full time in 1990. Now dividing his time between the UK and Spain, where he lives and works, he has work in private collections across Europe.
