When someone told Stephen Clively that Henri Matisse had dreamt of an art of balance and serenity devoid of troubling subject-matter... Stephen's response was "Well, just what is wrong with that?" Stephen strives to strike such a balance in his paintings in figurative, still life and landscape subject matter. Stephen has fitted in painting between being an economic policy adviser at the Australian Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and a homemaker in West London. His art studies have included part time attendance at the Canberra School of Art, Australia, and the Putney School of Art and Design, London. Shows/Exhibitions include: Lacy Road Gallery, Putney 2005 and 2006; Chelsea Open Art 2005; Canberra Times Art Fair 2004.
