The only thing that matches Kopecna impressive list of academic achievements is the sheer volume and quality of her photography. A highly driven individual Kopecna moved to London from Prague and initially became a tennis prodigy, reaching number 4 in the UK's under 12's. After completing her first degree at one of the oldest universities of the world, the University of Cambridge, UK, Kopecna went on to complete her MA at the equally renowned Goldsmiths, University of London, UK, before studying a short photography course at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, UK. Finding inspiration from the work of Susan Sontag, Kopecna now specializes in fashion, still life and art photography, working primarily in the studio. "I am intersted in the relationship between imagination and reality" she says. Pavla Kopecna (b. 1982) currently lives and works in London.
