Alan Greenwell is a sculptor who specializes in Acrylic Sheet. Fascinated by the idea of ‘carving out space with light’, Greenwell has been developing the technique since 2000. Finding his inspiration from three dimensional Geometry and Astronomy, his work has led him to intensely study the images sent back from NASA’s Hubble telescope. “Whether suspended or standing, my sculptures imply more spaces than they occupy; they stimulate the imagination to fill the gaps. This is amplified by the environment seen through or reflected in the acrylic plates.” he says. Alan Greenwell has recently undertaken a number of commissions for public spaces and exhibits his work across North West England.
