Artists CV    artwork
Tracy Marshall

In 2003 I came back to art, having spent a number of years pursuing other careers.

I grew up in a small village on the outskirts of London. I had a secondary school education, and spent a short time at Chelsea School of Art in the mid 1980's. Since then I have been based in London.

Currently, my work is primarily still life and I use oil paints as I love the rich colours and textures. I mainly paint on canvas, sometimes on textured canvas paper and wood. Sizes of paintings vary - from 3" to 6ft!

Along with sales to UK and international customers, my work has also been displayed in, and bought by, various London galleries. My flower paintings have been very popular. I admire Georgia O'Keeffe's flower paintings, and enjoy the sensual aspect of her work. I think that flowers and other plants can, in many ways, resemble the human body.

I am also a fan of American Realist artist Audrey Flack, whose still life compositions are amazing, and remind me of Dutch 17th century still life paintings, but in a modern way. Other likes - pretty varied: Dali, Warhol, Cezanne, Klimt, Vermeer, Van Gogh.
