My paintings have been selected for exhibition in Washington DC, USA, London , Cairo, Egypt as a member of the IASG-they organised touring shows; I joined during a period when I was in the in the USA for long periods. In my first work as a painter, I simply enjoyed painting en plein aire and still life painting. I continue with this work. I like to capture ephemeral moments; to illuminate memories with a clarity that startles.
Water also features highly in my work: I enjoy the sensual experience of moving
effortlessly in this element and often dream I am swimming.
Winning the Rugby Open 2011 First Prize with the large pen and ink drawing “The Tao of the Sea and The Wind”, inspired a year of work with pen and ink creations. I was awarded a 2 week exhibition space at Floor One, the Rugby Museum and Art Gallery. This work evolved from taking “a line for a walk’’ (as Paul Klee advised) and inspired total immersion for a few months and quite a few new large pieces. I then decided to bring in myth and Shakespeare and planned the compositions a little more. Then I worked on the anatomy of any figures, after which I could allow the images to trail from my subconscious mind.
My Swan drawings and works on Shakespearean themes were commissioned and purchased in April 2012 by the Fullers group for the White Swan Hotel in Stratford upon Avon. The works are in the hotel’s main medieval bedrooms and suites.
Many of my works are available as Fine Art Guild Limited Edition Signed Prints, each with a Certificate of Authenticity: These are small runs only up to 20 copies to be printed for each work.
