Background
I am a professional artist, I exhibit through a number of galleries across the UK. I also teach life-drawing at The Fire-Station, Centre for Culture & Arts, in Windsor.
I have a diploma from Heatherley's School of Art in Chelsea and another from The National College of Art and Design, Dublin. I have also been lucky enough to have been given extensive personal tuition by a close friend of Francis Bacon and a senior lecturer at The Royal Academy.
Influences
My main influence is Degas, but also Schiele, Rembrandt, Klimt and some modern British artists: Shaun Ferguson, Jenny Saville, Byroglyphics, Caroline Burraway and Michael Clark.
Artist's statement
Whilst an element of realism is important, I try to move beyond artistic convention and avoid an image that is too predictable. Realism is not enough - what you take away and what you add to what you see are what transform a picture into art.
I believe that the viewer wants to see a degree of draughtsmanship from an artist but they deserve more than this. I want my pictures to touch people personally and to be considered works of beauty.
Galleries
My work can be seen at a number of art fairs including The Kent & Sussex Art Fair, The Hampshire Art Fair, The Wiltshire Art Fair and The Affordable Art Fair. My work is also shown at the following galleries:
- Gallery Off The Wall (Cardiff)
- Life The Gallery (Surrey)
- Foss Fine Art (London)
- View Art Gallery (Bristol).
I am happy to take commissions for portraits or anything else...
