ARTISTIC STATEMENT
Inspired by "Gaia - Living Earth" and metaphysics, I seek to make statements about life today yet at the same time bring something of the past to bear on my work. It is a synthesis of two opposites, of states of being, of worlds, past and future. I seek balance between feeling and intellect, continually exploring both in different ways and through different means, either in subject matter or with materials.
I am also a great advocate of the chance aspect of events, and the belief that our intuition must play a large part in everything we do.
CLIMATE CHANGE
These works are "organic works for the 21st century". The use of organic materials such as beeswax and the ancient technique of encaustic are symbolic representations of the age of the earth, its organic quality and its history.
Fragile, they serve as a timely reminder of the fragility of our ecosystem in today's world and of the ephemeral quality of our lives.
