Hansmartin Petzel resides in the beautiful coastal area of Southern Spain, in the waterfront city of Alicante. Born and raised in Germany, Hansmartin's artistic interests blossomed early in childhood. After studying and practising economics for several years, Hansmartin chose to pursue his strong artistic calling and draw upon his travelling and life experiences as the basis of his work. Hansmartin works primarily in oils, with a flavour of impressionism in his representational art style. His early training established a strong foundation in the Impressionist tradition of seeing and painting shapes of light and color using relatively loose brush strokes. Hansmartin has also studied art extensively and been influenced by numerous historic artists, most notably, Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargent and Alfred Sisley. Combined, all of these influences have allowed Hansmartin to establish his own unique artistic style and define him as a truly versatile emerging 21st Century German Impressionist. Hansmartin is recognized for his expressive colors and the passionate brushwork he achieves in his portraits, landscapes and figurative work.Hansmartin Petzel has participated in inter-national exhibitions, both as a member of a group and on individual basis, i.e. “solo” gallery exhibitions and art fairs all over the World such as Alicante Spain, London, La Valetta Malta and Florence Italy and has won several awards.
