I was born in London in 1966 the son of the late Ron Folland who was the UK's most successful published painter during the late sixties, seventies and early eighties. I completed an art foundation course in Canterbury and was offered a place at Golsmiths to study fine art. I declined this place to become self-employed designing commercial properties.
In 1999 I decided to return to education and I subsequently gained a place to study for a Ba Hons in design at Ravensbourne design college in Chislehurst. After graduation in 2002 I set up a design company specialising in restaurant and bar design. However I also decided to return to fine art and due to exhibition success I became a full time artist in 2004.
