Paul Bevitt

I was born in Yorkshire, England. It was at art college, in Wakefield, studying graphic design in the mid 1960’s, that I made the transition into photography.

I have been a photographer for over 30 years.

Commissioned by leading advertising agencies world wide, I combine both a creative and disciplined style to achieve success.

Most of my work has been shot on large format plate cameras, this produces accurate graphic images in my studio.

Constantly experimenting, I make use of different light mediums including flash, tungsten, daylight and even overhead projectors.

I have gained inspiration from numerous sources, but primarily 20th century surreal artists and photographers such as Magritte, Dali, Man Ray, Horst and Angus McBean.

My approach to photography is to capture a series of images linked by subject, lighting or technique.

I have gained major recognition for my work winning numerous gold and silver advertising awards including D&AD, Campaign, Ilford, Art Directors Club, Communication Arts and The Creative Circle.

Most notably was the award for “Personal Still Life” by the
Association of Photographers in England

In September 2004 I exhibited my work in Miami as part of a charity project.

In April 2005 I was asked to judge the photography section at the KTR awards in Warsaw, Poland.

Most recently I have converted to Digital. I still have some of my large format equipment to give me total flexibility.
