I have been drawing and painting since I was a child. I studied Art at school and continued to develop my skills at St Mary’s college Belfast where I studied art and education. I graduated in 1997 with a B.Ed Hons degree in Art.
At the moment I combine my painting with teaching. I had my first exhibition at Agora Gallery in New York City In July 2006 and I exhibited in Dublin in November 2007 since then I have sold most of my work through commissions.
I paint mostly in oil and am influenced by photographs and everyday experiences. My subjects vary from the stillness and transparency of floral images to the chaos of stampeding horses. I have also sold some portrait work.
In previous years my themes have explored the use of texture to create movement, some figurative work and abstract landscapes. My current work is influenced by photographs and my own imagination. I want to try and transfer the wealth of warm and vibrant colours which can be found in our natural surroundings.
