Frank Ash

Frank Ash is a Scot now living in Bedfordshire who taught himself photography, both through discovery for himself of its possibilities and study of artists who attracted him. Mentors were Paul Foley, Leigh Preston and Chris Palmer, all of RPS. His great passion is landscape but is attracted by subdued light anywhere. Foregrounds are often important too, after Joe Cornish, or any aspect of nature revealed by beautiful light: he tries to be a follower of Freeman Patterson in this. It is his personal eye, however, and sense of composition after years practising in the fine arts which lead him on. He has no agenda except to see and explore. Recently he has begun to explore landscape photography by night. Most images are 12" on the long side and all are printed on PermaJet art papers.
