"My paintings are inspired by a psychological phenomenon called pareidolia. Pareidolia is a type of illusion or misperception involving a vague or obscure stimulus being perceived as something clear and distinct. For example; seeing shapes/faces in the clouds. My pareidolia comes from my brush marks that I make at the beginning of the painting. I begin my paintings with strong, aggressive automatic brush marks then find images that protrude out from these marks, i'm tapping into my psyche to find out what's hidden within. My works range from humorous sinister scenes to ambiguous playful like images. Some of my paintings started out in the same vein but developed into autobiographical scenes albeit depicted in a cartoon like style." George Hale
George has had several exhibitions nationwide including to solo shows.
