Jentje Knuppe is an emerging artist working in London, with studios in Southwark. She is a past secretary and exhibiting member of Richmond Art Society and a member of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society at the Mall Galleries in London, affliated to the Federation of British Artists. Her work has been shown at the Mall Galleries, at the Cork Street Open in Mayfair and at Parallax in SoHo, New York.
Her latest work explores some of the tensions between nature and the built environment, blending abstractive and figurative techniques, seeking to find fresh ways to view "traditional" subjects without descending into cliché or gimmickry.
Largely self-taught as an artist, Jentje formerly worked as a journalist on Fleet Street. She has degrees in applied economics and development administration, history and archaeology and a master's in management. Art, however, was her first love, and she is committed to the belief that constant practice, rather than theory, should be visibly at the heart of an artist's work.
