A self taught artist, C Chan//chan 10, draws his inspiration from the hustle and bustle of London's city streets. Mainly working in black and white his work hopes to reflect the "harsh reality of life in the city". Chan adds, "In many cases there is no compromise, no grey area; you win or lose, succeed or fail, it can be an unforgiving place to live. The rich and poor live side by side". Believing that a, "city is defined by the people who live and work within it", C Chan//chan 10 seeks to find harmony and balance. "In combining the freedom and fluidity of abstract oil painting with the precision and discipline of intricately cut stencils I find that I can express two opposite sides of my personality, whilst also interpreting the complex environment in which I live onto canvas."
