| Peri Taylor's vibrant watercolours are created by wet-on-wet watercolour painting. Wet on wet also known as wet-in-wet, is a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previous layers of wet paint. This technique requires a fast way of working, because the art work has to be finished before the first layers have dried. "I love the challenge of painting a model, working wet on wet with watercolour and ink. I enjoy mixing the flesh tones from two colours to give a subtle effect." say's Taylor. The history of the technique goes right back to the origins of oil painting, and was used by several of the early Netherlandish painters. Taylor who finds her inspiration in the places she visits, colour and light, often travels from her base in Bristol, UK to find her inspiration. "I love Italy, especially poppy time at the end of May beginning of June, in Umbria and Tuscany." she says, adding, "Although poppies are such delicate flowers they give such a splash of colour in the fields."
