| The space between music and art has always been a fascinating one and for Wendy Hyde it has proved to be an inspiration. Her work dedicated to the music of J.S Bach contains rhythms and pulses as well as the same harmonious flow of ideas and feelings. The purples bulge and ripple organically into the deep crimsons, creating a feeling of movement and balance. In other works flashes of white provide a lightning bolt of light which serves to illuminate the whole piece. Colours are suddenly given edges and the mind’s eye works to turn these into forms. Like all great art, the viewer could see something new each time they looked at this. When the palette changes and she uses dark blues and yellows, the work evokes the power and mystery of the coming tide. Deeply influenced by the abstract expressionists of the past, Hyde uses these influences to create works that show her personal response to the natural world. Powerful and brooding, these paintings would grace any space and provide years of interest.
