| The work of Hkosmoh is a journey into the imagination: satisfying and surprising jaunts into realms of colour and pattern leap out at the eye. Working in acrylic on canvas, there is a mosaic-like quality to her designs which conjure up Italian frescoes, especially in the case of the iconic "Maria". There is also perhaps a reference to Italian Futurism in the definite repetition of motifs as in "Bank-ing Messenger"s and" Hoto". In fact, the allusions also take one into the realms of ancient Egyptian, as one can find disitnct kohl-rimmed eyes and goddesses, but also others from a variety of mythologies. Decorative gold outlined forms in the vein of Hundertwasser take their place in the array of embellishments so beloved by this unique artist. |
