Margaret Steel lives and works in eastern France. She specialises in people and animals, either in pure watercolour or, more importantly, in a medium she has made her own: 'Printing by Hand'.
Margaret composes her subjects in fine dots using a Rotring pen and the smallest nib, 0.1 mm. This method brings out the finest of textures and details of animal fur, textile or the contours of a face. This is then painted in watercolour. The result is hyper realist in the minutest detail. Each picture using this method takes between 2 months and 9 months depending on the size and detail. Over the past 15 years, Margaret has held several personal exhibitions in the Lyon area and Switzerland, in galleries, CERN and the World Trade Organisation.
