| After receiving a Distinction for her MA in Fine Art Painting, Anthea Holmes has become an accomplished professional artist. Born in the UK, Anthea attended the Camberwell College of Arts and later studied at Kingston, before being awarded a place at the celebrated Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Working in a traditional style, Anthea often builds up the ground by using Gesso, collaged paper and scrim. Then using oil paint she builds upon the surface quality, adding, rubbing and wiping until the texture and image become integrated and inseparable. "In all my work I'm trying to create a sense of harmony, unity, wholeness and luminosity." Holmes has exhibited in the UK and the USA and has works in private collections alike. |
