| Michael Johnson finds inspiration in Cubism, the 20th century avant-garde art movement that revolutionised European painting and sculpture. Just as the cubists broke up and analyzed, re assembled and abstracted form, Johnston deconstructs objects and arrangements and re assembles the image, often depicting several view points and angles within one image. This technique allows Johnson to play with the sense of depth and the viewer's interpretation of the picture plane. Michael Johnson lives and works in Newcastle upon Tyne, in the North of England.
