| James Baines was born in Australia in 1944. He graduated from the National Art School in N.S.W. in 1963 and subsequently went on to study under Godfrey Miller, John Passmore, John Coburn, John Olsen and Dorothy Thornhill. James then spent several years travelling and painting in South-East Asia, India and Nepal before settling in North Queensland. Well known for his outdoor murals and large acrylic paintings in public places, he is an artist of great versatility in subject and style. James`s works are held in private collections throughout the United States, Asia, Europe and Australia. Most recently James has won the overall grand prize for landscape painting for "Weary Bay" awarded by the International Artist magazine 2006 |
