This current series of works, exhibited on LondonArt, directly examines and reflects the effects of manual labour on the building site and it’s effect on the skin.  JEL

Inspired by Kandinsky and Miro's confident use of colour, and U.S Pop artist Robert Rauschenberg's use of collage, James Lockley's abstracted paintings and collages express and record the world around him. For James the actual act of painting is just as important as the end result as it allows him time to escape and reflect the frenetic speed of everyday life.

Jo Jenkins

“I want to suggest a mystery which paint can suggest by applying layers of texture and colour. I try to suggest a depth and ambiguity where foreground and background mix, some areas are partly revealed. Some blanked out. I hope that the viewer will see something different every time they stand in front of my work” she says. Inspired by Peter Lanyon, Tapies and Porter her paintings are often a reflection of her travels, and although her work is essentially abstract there can be no doubt that it is enriched by the landscape. Having spent many years teaching Art, Jo Jenkins has recently retired and now enjoys life painting full time at her base in Chester, UK.
