Cecelia Heyne

CECELIA HEYNE Cecelia is a Zimbabwean artist who has been producing paintings for exhibitions and private commission for the last fourteen years. She works with acrylics and oils, in two very different styles. The Southern African theme of totemic culture influences the one body of work. A collage of images sourced from memory, books and photographs are exaggerated and manipulated onto the canvas. The resultant shapes are then blocked in with strong colour, resulting in bold, bright, design-oriented canvases. Surrealist mindscapes explore three-dimensional representation in her other range of paintings. Emphasis in composition is on creating depth, distance and fullness which together with the use of rich, dissonant colour, result in works which have an uncomfortable brooding, edginess to them.

David Hilditch

David John Hilditch allows paint to have a life of its own, creating complex and abstract environments where ideas of reality can emerge and transform free from the moorings of time, space and causality. This freedom is explored through the language of clouds in flux, hints of facial structures, abstract textures and forms from nature. Inspired by the masters of figurative oil painting and the writings of Spinoza, Kant and Hume, his watercolours and large scale oils reflect on perception, impermanence and identity in a way that is deep, engaging and open to endless interpretation.

Helen Hopkins

Helen is a practised artist having studied under professional artists at classes over the last seven years. Her speciality is using colourful heavy body acrylics on a large scale: not something every artist can manage. Her style of chunky brushstrokes is daring and carried out with great zeal. On the other hand, Helen appears to be equally versatile whichever media she adopts including watercolours. So whether it is audacious, gestural, thick paint you enjoy or bright gutsy watercolours, then Helen's style will certainly accommodate both tastes.

Melanie Housden

Housden’s beautiful, delicate paintings echo a sense of aloneness. The fragility and tenderness of Housden’s new work ‘fallen Angel’ demonstrates a rare, sensitivity found in great paintings. We look forward to seeing more of this new work.
