Paul Morrison

London-based Paul Morrison creates high impact cityscapes using watercolour, photography and digital art. His Urban Icon project takes its inspiration from Italian 'vedute', the golden age of the travel poster, and contemporary artists such as Paul Catherall. “I like to work with strong contrast between light and shadow, to accentuate the structure and depth of the street scene. At the same time I use the computer to simplify the palette in each picture, enabling me to build up bigger, bolder blocks of colour...I hope my pictures help people to notice the architectural power of the cities in which we live.”

Simion  Muntean

All of the big emotions are represented here. An undercurrent of tension and aggression sits in these canvasses as each colour lies thickly alongside its neighbour. Expressive juxtapositions are favoured rather than harmony and the effect is truly dazzling. With enough depth to keep a viewer coming back, and to keep the image coming back to the viewer, these works swim in a deep layer of atmosphere. Equally dramatic and passionate, these images leave a heavy impression and speak of the base instincts of life. It is thanks to this artist’s talented hand and understanding of colour and composition that these images contain so much power. For the right collector, these paintings would be a wonderful purchase, bringing years of interest and intrigue. Have a look through his work and enter the world of Simion Muntean.

Kevin Murphy

Kevin Murphy is a very popular and talented artist who has many admirers here at LondonArt. His work speaks to the spiritual heart of art, coming from a tradition of religious, allegorical or supernatural paintings that is as old as the discipline itself. When he blends house-like shapes with ghostly faces he creates work that is moving and unsettling. His figures reach out towards a turbulent sky or dance together in an orgy of soul searching. Never dull, Murphy paints with a thick handling of paint and rich, bold colours to create intensely symmetrical works that sometimes border on abstract expressionism. The characters in his work rub together in a blitz of confusion or throw up their hands in realisation of being the souls that have been lost. Certainly not for the feint hearted, but never less than striking, this is skilful and meaningful art.

Leyla Murr

Leyla Murr employs a varied range of visual techniques to create her spacious abstract paintings. Often making reference in the titles to actual times or places, the works tentatively hint at the real. Depending in the main on horizontals and verticals, they appear to suggest landscapes yet abstraction definitely offers Murr a greater facility of emotional expression. Working in acrylics can allow for a free spontaneity as images can be quickly reworked and Murr's works are the polar opposite of ponderous. Instead she has a professional ability to play with colour, composition and style to produce great results.
