G .N Qazi

G.N.QAZI is fascinated with the old architecture of Sindh, one of the four provinces of Pakistan. Centering on his hometown of Thatta, his paintings depict the yellow dusty lanes, and habitual bazaars. Inspired by the old 'havelis', a term used to describe the traditional private residencies in Pakistan, his work particularly focuses on the old wooden balconies which are associated with them. “Through these old buildings, with beautifully chiseled out patterns, doors and windows, I try to reflect the architecture of days gone by when it was not technology but human skill and effort that created and built marvels.” Currently living in London his work is due to be exhibited later this year. Qazi has exhibited prolifically in both one man and group exhibitions across Pakistan and has works in private collections across the country.
