Barbara Douglas

The physical world provides endless inspiration for artists around the world. For Barbara Douglas, the natural spaces of the African continent provide endless fascination. She captures the majesty of grazing lions with an impressionistic hand that shows their manes and figures radiating in the fading light of dusk. When she paints humans she creates images of popular stills from the movies, or of the heroism of well-known sportsman in the final stages of victory. Her work is already selling well on this site for its beautiful handling of forms and colours and we are sure that many of customers would find a good home for these beautiful canvasses.

Charles Duke

Charles Duke predominately works in graphite pencil on paper. Although Charles does work in other mediums - such as oil and chalk pastel an example of which is entitled ‘2 Girls’ a rather racy depiction of two scantly clad women - his skill as a draftsman is best seen in his graphite on paper drawings.

Bryan Dunleavy

Although Bryan Dunleavy lives by the sea, I think it is fair to say that his warm colour palette and lazy days under clear blue skies aren't inspired by the southwest of England where he spends most of his time painting. Bryan's Still life's, seaside towns and ocean views transport the viewer to a calm, relaxing and positively tranquil existence in the sun.

Alla Dzevaltovska

An abundance of colour sweeps across these canvass as this wonderful artist creates figurative art to grace any wall. By selecting rich, deep tones and applying thickly handled lines and forms, the artist gives a depth and a warmth to her work. This effervescent feeling is further emphasised by the wry humour and joyful details of the characters within the paintings. Portraits of the beauty of pregnancy sit alongside impressionist landscapes and scenes from nature. Other works demonstrate an interest in oriental painting, although all take a unique perspective and an individual style. Originally from Latvia, Dzevaltovska is now based in London and has a very promising career in art ahead of her.

Graham William Edden

The paintings of Graham William Edden are naturalistic and skilfully pay homage to the human form. In this, they are complete in themselves. But Edden's artistic perception metaphorically extends the beauty of the human subject by capturing the body in its actions: what it does and how it works. In '"An Affectionate Hug", he conveys the slight movement a breast makes when receiving a loving embrace. Another example can be observed in "I See You". Whilst the painting does the job of seeing the eye itself with utter conviction, it also reflects the pure, unadulterated gaze. As viewers, we are iintially seduced by the recognition of the outer appearance of humanity, only to ponder these 'moments' where the body speaks of itself.

Adam Edwards

South London based artist Adam Edwards paints enlarged faces using oils which reveal suppressed emotional states and traumas from images he finds in newspapers and magazines. “If I am a portrait painter, that’s incidental, I feel more like a conceptual artist working through the medium of portraiture, not attempting to create either an image of the sitter, or capture in any way their soul, but to produce an image of myself and solidify the ethereal moment between conception and execution of the piece”. His first solo show will open on June 18th 2009 at the Bear Free House's upstairs gallery, 296a Camberwell New Road, SE5.

Elizabeth Edwards

Elizabeth Edwards originally trained as a Fine Art Painter. Elizabeth’s obvious interest in the inner workings of the mind, how we express ourselves, both consciously and subconsciously specifically through the process of image making, fascinated her. Subsequently, Elizabeth went on to a postgraduate ship in Art Therapy and now combines the creation of her own work with the analysis and cognitive therapy of her clients.
