Sharon Smith

James Smith

Intrigue and ambiance abound in these wonderfully lit portraits. They speak of a world of unease and ask eternal questions about people and their surroundings. The images mix portraiture with abstractions, bringing in an otherworldly dimension to the portfolio. Mothers and children lie in cosmic landscapes that glisten with colour, interesting compositional devices, colour schemes and ideas. James is not an artist who limits himself to just one style, but instead infuses each canvass with a multitude of concepts; each one handled with flare and panache. As decorative items, these paintings represent excellent value and would bring a slice of colour and spiritual interest to any living or working room. By using acrylics, the artists manages to bring a vivaciousness to his shades that would light up any corner of any space.

Alfonso Sosa

The work of Alfonso Sosa is at once folksy and inspired by the big ideas of modern art. By taking the cubist shapes and silver and copper tones favoured by Braque and Picasso and reinventing them, she creates art that is both playful and natural. Her work breathes with a rhythm and movement, where beautiful subjects high kick their way through a dance or play music to an adored muse. This is work with a life and a soul, where the passions are free and the air is filled with excitement. The scenes are of locals cycling through their day or taking time to relax with their animals. These are paintings to enhance any home or space, and we are very proud to be able to show them here.

Margaret Steel

Margaret Steel lives and works in eastern France. She specialises in people and animals, either in pure watercolour or, more importantly, in a medium she has made her own: 'Printing by Hand'. Margaret composes her subjects in fine dots using a Rotring pen and the smallest nib, 0.1 mm. This method brings out the finest of textures and details of animal fur, textile or the contours of a face. This is then painted in watercolour. The result is hyper realist in the minutest detail. Each picture using this method takes between 2 months and 9 months depending on the size and detail. Over the past 15 years, Margaret has held several personal exhibitions in the Lyon area and Switzerland, in galleries, CERN and the World Trade Organisation.
