Jo Lewis

The interaction of water, colour and surface, in a particular place and time is a constant preoccupation for artist Jo Lewis. Fascinated by the relationship and behaviour of one of nature's strongest elements, Lewis' work reflects the beauty of the landscape, the water, rivers, streams and oceans, within it. Specialising in water based paints and inks Jo predominantly creates her work while on location and often incorporates the natural water source into the process of creating the work. "The movement and flow of water across the paper as it meets the paint leaves a unique trace. Maybe only seconds apart, but in that new moment of weather, tide and wind, the paper records a new image." Jo Lewis' recent work has been created from different locations along London's famous, River Thames. In 2001 Jo Lewis was awarded a Champions for Change Millennium grant, and more recently was commissioned by Hermes UK to produce artwork for display in their London shop windows.

Katherine  Lubar

Lubar's glowing effervescent paintings create optical illusions of light and shadow. Often taking us through three or four stages and divisions of reality, she exhibits her work across London and America where her work is held in private collections. "My work takes as its subject light and shadow. The shape of a light pattern and the "negative" space surrounding it combine and interact with each other to form a geometrically interesting composition. Unnatural colours are used to create the feeling of light hitting the eye and sometimes dark and light tones are used together to give the feeling that the painting itself "glows" with its own light." Pierre  Lamont Dingley

Here at LondonArt we appreciate any artist who can use a variety of styles and techniques to express their feelings on canvas. Pierre Lamont Dingley is one such artist, whose skill lies in his ability to create wonderfully detailed seascape paintings, vibrant abstracts and tribal inspired sculpture. In each medium he shows a truly gifted hand, whether it is in capturing the light bouncing off a wave or understanding the complimentary nature of his abstract colours. He uses a wonderfully wide array of painterly skills, showing his talent as a learned and practiced painter of the natural world. The same scene is painted in daytime and in the evening, exposing the artist’s understanding and handling of light. His seascapes are airy and varied, with brooding colours or wonderfully inviting horizons. Each canvas is a magnificently captured moment of time, space or thought and we are very pleased to be able to bring his work to a wider audience.

Peter Lancaster

Peter Lancaster's work can't be defined by a particular genre or style but instead is characterized by his use of cool blues, fiery reds and dry humour. Peter Lancaster's most recent series of works take there inspiration from the English language. Visually exploring cockney rhyming slang and or turns of phrase, Peter finds humour in the combination and association of words and their interpretations. Currently working on a series of paintings inspired by some of the great masters he aims not to copy but interpret …"In these paintings I am trying to view the world as if I was standing at the same spot as the artist but painting a world that has either been untouched by humans or that has been corrupted." Peter Lancaster has been painting professionally for over seven years and has exhibited his work in the UK.

Marek Langowski

Drawing obvious comparisons with some of the finest names in art history such as Turner and Canelletto, Langowski is a genuinely talented painter who uses a variety of techniques in order to create these incredible works. Wonderfully crafted scenes of the Venice lagoon shimmer with the dance of light on the canal surface. Boats are illuminated by the golden glow of streetlights to create a glorious canvass. His seascapes contain every flick of light, caught fleetingly on the temporary crest of a wave as the boats hold their solid forms in front of the dissipating sunlight. In some works he faithfully captures the shape and grandeur of the masts and sails, in others he allows the light to take over in a more impressionistic style. When human beings make an appearance in his work they do so as isolated, solitary figures, holding bright red umbrellas against the murky grey twilight of a rain soaked evening. This is striking and beautiful work and we are delighted to bring it to a wider audien
