James  Flavell

James Flavell has created an exquisite range of wood sculptures which currently focuses on water droplets and ripples. “After seeing the 1950 Escher piece ‘Rippled Surface’, I began to study the effect of drops hitting a still water surface and started work on this theme in January 2007.” he says. Working with an impressive selection of wood, from African Padauk, Elm, Maple and Cherry his work draws out the natural beauty of the wood while reflecting and exploring a momentary reaction of nature.

zac greening

Zac Greening Zac Greening’s work explores the ordered geometry in tension with chaos found within nature, using metal to create sculptures that are timeless, unlike the subject matter they will not decay. He peers into the secret beauty through magnified forms, an anemones perfect fractal merging into chaos of molton drips. The choice of manmade materials, to make sometimes stark imposing sculptures or treasure like plaques awakens a sense of the precious and fragile quality of the natural world. He toys with scale, so that ‘Seed’ could be mistaken for a model planet, it reflects in its cracked intriguing surface the mundane world in which it is set.

Alan Greenwell

Alan Greenwell is a sculptor who specializes in Acrylic Sheet. Fascinated by the idea of ‘carving out space with light’, Greenwell has been developing the technique since 2000. Finding his inspiration from three dimensional Geometry and Astronomy, his work has led him to intensely study the images sent back from NASA’s Hubble telescope. “Whether suspended or standing, my sculptures imply more spaces than they occupy; they stimulate the imagination to fill the gaps. This is amplified by the environment seen through or reflected in the acrylic plates.” he says. Alan Greenwell has recently undertaken a number of commissions for public spaces and exhibits his work across North West England.

Patsy Hardiman

Hardiman's images transcend beyond the boundaries of her canvas's. The arrangement of line and form suggests that what we are viewing is a 'fraction of the bigger picture'. Hardimans ability to recreate a sense of atmosphere comes from the familiarity with the objects and enviroments depicted.
