Julie Beresford

The majority of Julie Beresford’s current work is based on or around family and friends. She is intrigued by the negativity and darkness that people, including children, have within them as well as the more pleasant sides to their natures. This juxtoposotion gives life its texture and creates the interesting tension and duplicity in this work. Portraits of children, painful red skin and interesting photographs make up this exhibition and show the versatility and ambition of this artist.

"I am interested in poetic juxtapositions of objects, which are imbued with both their practical uses and their symbolic evocation …The magic in the seemingly mundane." Says Sue Blandford, adding, ".I am concerned with paradoxes of light and dark, peace and unease. Also relationships between man made objects, or interventions, in natural situations." After successfully completing a degree from The Norwich School of Art and Design in 1991, Sue Blandford has exhibited across the UK and has participated in a number of Artist Residencies. Her work is in private collections across the UK.

Sylvia inclines to painting and drawing practice, however she works across wide range of media, originating personal means of expression through applying both traditional and innovative techniques. She works both from observation and reference pictures, altering the image, exploring transition from representational forms into the abstract ones. The themes of her work evolve around female identity, sexuality, urban environment seen as an entity, and their possible interactions. Sylvia is absorbed with both ends of vitality – decay spectrum and placing her artistic subjects on those peripheries.

Jorge Berlato

There is a wide variety of styles apparent in the work of artist Jorge Berlato who has shown widely across Spain, Brazil and America. The pieces shown here span differnt media such as watercolour, screenprint and mixed media works. The artworks in this last category often seem to have sand as one of their main ingredients, perhaps reflecting the landscape influence of the sunny climes from whence the work takes its inspiration. His subject matter includes love, seasons, faces and dancers...nostalgic sentiments we can all identify which he selects to portray in a number of styles.

Raffaella Bertolini

At fifteen Raffaella Bertolini began her formal training at the Liceo Artistico a. Martini College of Art in Italy. After moving to London in 1998 Bertolini became part of the underground art movement, 'Random Art' which she still has an influential role in today. Exhibiting in and around London, Random Art hope to collectively express themselves through media, film and art. She syas of her own work, "For me creating art is a way to release energy and express my inner soul; I love to watch people and observe the many different ways that they exhibit themselves, and then to recreate the idea on paper. I love colours, I use different media, I like to experiment with different styles and I never know what I am going to do next…"
