Victor Hugo

Assuming the legendary name of Victor Hugo - the famous 19th Century writer and artist who was best known for his novels Les Misérables and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, our latest Mexican artists' real identity remains a mystery. Just as the late Victor Hugo was famous for his reflections of humanity's ceaseless combat with evil, the present day Victor celebrates the darker, sinister side to life. His deliberate choice of non de plume seeks to add power to his work and with titles such as Nadie me ha visto solo cuando estoy solo, roughly translated to, Of Fear Scare and Terror, and Paranoia , his aggressive and uncompromising style, is undeniably severe.

Peter Humphries

His uncanny scenes of life in Paraguayan barrios could illustrate a Graham Greene novel, though we suspect Peter is hinting at his own deep well of stories. Afterwards, luxuriate in the artist's eye for exotic blooms or soothe yourself with a calming landscape.

Oliver Huntrods

Oliver is a figurative artist living and working in Estoril, Portugal. Oliver paints pictures in colour and in Black and white. His black and white paintings tend to be highly pictorial, geometric and much less organic in form. Where as his instinctive earthy colour pallet lends itself to a more organic form of representation, which teeters on abstraction.

Yunus Ibraimov

Yunus Ibraimov exhibits here extremely proficient charcoal drawings from the nude and examples of contrasting approaches to using oils on canvas. "Afternoon" and "Sunny Day" demonstrate a deft facility in the handling of paint with a freshness of stroke and colour that at the same time cleverly represent light and shade. The unexpected accents of lilac and mauve are very appealing. Alternatively, in "Poplars" and "Poplars, Sunset", he reveals a very different mood and method of paint application. The horizontal marks conjure up a bleak, blustery snowscape where the landscape shimmers and appears to melt into an insubstantial haze.

Edyta Ignaczak

Edyta Ignaczak is predominantly a printmaker who uses traditional drawing and printmaking methods as well as exploring advanced digital technology. Using her chosen medium to visually explore a subject or concept, her work is as much about the first mark on the page as it is the last. Through the layering of line and form Ignaczak creates a concentrated sense of history and a transparent sense of discovery in each raw and often emotional piece. Currently living in London her work is in private collections across the South of England.

Vladimir Ivanov

Vladimir Ivanov's paintings make you look twice...and then look some more... Highly imaginative, they are a compelling blend of abstraction, figuration, pattern and photorealism. Often 'trompe l'oeil', they play tricks on the eye with playful changes of scale from tiny to massive in the same composition. Often using tonal variations and striations, there is a skilful skewing and bending of forms in a style that is almost psychedelic yet also shows evidence of the contemporary influence of the digital on our perception.

Abby Jackson

As a member of the Stuckist Movement, Abby Jackson creates work with an eye on the political horizon and her finger on the pulse of contemporary issues. In this collection of work we see her take her abstract, street style and apply it to themes as wide ranging as the credit crunch, the Clash, original sin and the evening entertainment of Max Mosely. There is no doubting the power and potency of these works; she paints to shake things up and create a strong message for the viewer. Having already gained much publicity and shown widely at exhibitions since 2004 we are now pleased to be able to bring you the work of this striking artist. By mixing an intense message with a creative hand, Jackson has crafted a portfolio that kept us looking for a great length of time. We hope that she will have the same effect on the customers of LondonArt.
