Artist of the week
C.Morey de Morand

Morey de Morandís strong and proud paintings create a harmonious balance of vivid colour and geometric form. Morand has used horizontal and vertical lines to construct rectangular shapes which contain rich vivid colour and pattern of varying densities and surface texture.

Morand uses the paint to build up an intensity of colour within each rectangle and geometric form. This creates a strong sense of independence to each shape and allows a conversation between the form and structure to naturally develop.

Her large scale paintings often measuring over a meter and a half in diameter, usually painted in a portrait format, draw on her love of colour and texture. Using her instinct to guide her, she balances the varying weights and densities of colour, line and surface texture until she reaches a satisfying harmony within the whole. This allows the viewer to fully enjoy each individual element within the piece- the subtle difference in the physical and emotional degrees of the various divisions of the composition, and explore the composition as a whole painting.

Morey de Morandís emotive and instinctive paintings only add to an environment rather than take from it. Currently living and working in London she has work in private collections across the UK. We currently hold a back catalogue of work ranging from £1000 to £5000 GBP.
