Careys intuitive feel for colour and balance allows the viewer a moment of calm. His sensitivity of touch and seductively 'tasty' colour range contrast the quick graphic, sometimes aggressive gesture of mark. Through the delicate veiling of paint and form carey manages to produce paintings that balance the sense of struggle with a feeling of warmth, rhythm and harmony.
