Patrick Kelly  cv
Like Paul Gauguin back in1897, Goldsmith's graduate Patrick Kelly presents art that portrays the big issues of life: "Where did we come from, what are we and where are we going?" He paints In an imaginative. highly subjective style with a brightly coloured palette to condense large tracts of space into a single artwork. His piece "Ex nihilo", Latin for "out of nothing" could be thought of as depicting the moment of creation, the black void in the epicentre being the pupil of God's eyeball. Whilst "Life on the crust of a cooling planet" evokes global warming and its catastrophic effects. A small statue in the foreground, along with its praying devotees is about to be destroyed by an approaching tsunami.
