Ortega Lérias

Ortega Lerias is a figurative artist working in a variety of mediums on paper. Successfully using mixed media demands a huge amount of knowledge and skill. As the term would imply a variety of mediums are applied to the same ground to create one image. This means that each medium must be practiced individually to gain full understanding of its natural characteristics and qualities. It then must be carefully considered before combining it with another. If like Ortega the artist has a good insight into the materials involved, then some creative and innovative results can be achieved.

Justin Lewis

Justin Lewis creates figurative compositions with subject matter that is very contemporary and imaginative. He succeeds where many fail, in saying something different by way of his choices of just what to paint! He is able to envisage subtle nuances of contemporary experience such as aspiration, Americanisation and working class nostalgia. His painting style appears to employ a flat, graphic style reminiscent of Balthus yet it is realistic enough to be rooted in everyday life.

Hong Li

Hong Li works in a realistic style to create accurate representations of figures and landscapes. His repertoire includes subject matter drawn from his traditional Chinese heritage such as "Beijing Opera Girl" and "Morning Sunshine of Beijing's Winter". The former is a soft, sensuous mingling of female limbs, red cloth and made-up eyes with a red lipstick mouth. The second work mentioned portrays traditional Chinese architecture which creates shadows in complementary colours in a mysterious, perspective laden vista. Unique figurative subjects are rendered realistically, bringing to life an array of distinct, memorable characters.

Lola Lonli

Lola Lonli...even the name of this intriguing artist sounds like a plaintive song lyric....Lonli's award winning paintings are created using tempera and fluorescent pigments on canvas, which change color in black light. A ' black' lamp emits ultraviolet light. He paints energy fields, especially those perceptible from music and dance. His desire to push painting's expressivity into the New Age is clear to see. He seeks to conjure up metaphors for the unseen, what he calls "natural energy penetrating all things and beings around us." His colour palette is awash with yellow sunshine and indigo reminiscent of the dye, grown by colonial planters in the Caribbean. The subject matter embraces both the "Mood Indigo" of Jazz whilst referencing ideas of spiritually awakened "Indigo" people...
